Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.

Success also indicates he has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a close final set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
